While hiking around the woods and hills of Genesee this weekend on a training, we came across someone’s cemetery for their pets. Of the 3 crosses, one didn’t look like there was anything on it and another was dated 2001 and the third was dated 2005, so they’ve been here a while.

So who would have ever thought or knew there was an apple tree at Evergreen lake. I wouldn’t have believed it myself had I not actually walked up to it and picked an apple! Of course, it’s so close to the road and the apples don’t look too great, but it’s there, and apparently has been there for many years. There are a lot of dead branches lower down, and it’s obviously not been taken care of.

I’ve been to Java Groove many, many times since it opened a couple years ago. Took a small hiatus while working out of town, but now that I’m back in Evergreen full time for a while, I’ve come back and it’s as nice and comfortable as ever – maybe even more so.

I thought free air was a thing of the past, but when I noticed my tires were a bit low today, I happened to be going by the Evergreen Car Wash behind the Conoco on Highway 74 just north of the lake, I saw the “Free Air” sign and turned in.

We were looking for a nice place to go to dinner last night and were pondering some of the local Evergreen dinner places. We thought about several of the places we go somewhat regularly, Keys on the Green, Fiesta Jalisco, Tuscany Tavern, Whipple Tree, but we decided to try The Wood Cellar.

It’s time for pumpkins again and since it was fairly cold and a little drizzly, we stayed close to home. We had planned on going to Chatfield, but decided to go to JP total and find some pumpkins. As always, they have a lot of nice pumpkins of all shapes and sizes along with gourds and some really delicious Apple Cider from Palisade.

So, the bear came back again last night. About 9:30 I was out back feeding the dogs and they seemed a bit restless and then started barking. I looked up and over by the trash cans and saw one turned over and a snout with 2 shiny eyes peering back at me.
Read MoreA few weeks ago, we were looking for a new place to hike near Evergreen as we’d hiked out 3 Sisters, Elk Meadow and Evergreen Lake. Then we saw the Mt. Evans Elk Management Area highlighted online. We’d never heard of this and thought it would be a really fun place to check out. We weren’t disappointed.
